The weekend after Thanksgiving always feels like a pause. The house gets quiet, the leftovers are still good, and the pace finally slows enough to notice the shift in rhythm.
We didn’t do Black Friday shopping and ended up in front of the fireplace watching four Christmas movies back to back. It didn’t feel lazy at all—more like cozy. I even fell asleep during the last one, which feels like the proper way to end a holiday.
But something surprised me during the first three movies.
Every time I got up—even for a minute—my body responded right away.
A little Essentrics move, a gentle rotation, a strengthening move… and yes, I even had a pair of dumbbells nearby because I was doing some weight training as well.
And every single time I moved, I noticed the same thing:
A little attention goes a long way.
Small movements aren’t a replacement for a full workout.
But they help you stay connected. They keep things from tightening up. And they make it easier to get back into your routine without that “starting from scratch” feeling.
As we head into December, consider stepping away from the couch, the desk, or the long drive… even for 60 seconds.
A slow reach, a gentle twist, a quick strengthening move — it all helps.
Your body responds faster than you think.
